Janet Piñero is an accomplished senior bioinformatician and scientific advisor with a Ph.D. in Biomedicine from Pompeu Fabra University. She is also an associate professor at Pompeu Fabra University. Janet’s research interests revolve around the development and implementation of computational tools for disease genomics data integration, exploration, and visualization.
Janet’s contributions to the field of biomedical bioinformatics have been instrumental in the development of the DisGeNET discovery platform, which has been cited in over a thousand scientific publications, and receives more than 10,000 users per month.
Additionally, she has contributed to the creation of other bioinformatic tools that exploit various omics data and can be used to understand disease molecular mechanisms, comorbidities, drug action, and toxicity. Janet has also been actively involved in several H2020 and IMI projects.
